We all have a curtain of shame. We are human, imperfect beings with imperfect life experiences, some filled with joy and others with pain.
Behind that curtain of shame lies our shadows, our fears. Fears of inadequacy, fears of not belonging.
We don't want to talk about that curtain, we would much prefer to pretend that it doesn't exist.
To keep others from seeing that curtain, we create our bouncer, our ego, that persona designed to shield others from that curtain. The greater the pain behind that curtain, the larger an ego persona we create.
For us to pull back the curtain, and certainly for others to pull back that curtain with us, is an act of excruciating vulnerability. It takes Courage. It takes trust.
But behind that curtain, there is not only our fears.
There is also our greatness.
